Denison Schools Face Struggle with Illegal Aliens and School Lunch Costs

In an unheralded article, Steve King's office appropriately pointed out the unspoken truth about the children of illegal aliens and the free school lunch subsidies.  Business Manager Larry Struck said he prepared the hand-out for the school board members because they are sometimes asked questions about the ethnic and socio-economic enrollment.  What the numbers illustrate is that as the population of illegal immigrants have increased in Denison, the proportion of children receiving school lunches essentially mirrors their population.  Currently 61.2% of Denison elementary students receive free school lunches and 8.7 receive subsidized school lunches.

Illegal Aliens allowed to walk free outside of Atlantic, IA

A spokesperson with the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement said today that his agency did not have the resources to deal with two illegal immigrants the Cass County Sheriff's Office released Monday after finding 95 pounds of marijuana hidden in their van.

Cass County Sheriff Bill Sage said his office released Natividad Valdovino Verdin, 59, and Javier Ruiz Sanchez, 49, both of Mexico, because they needed medical attention and he did not want the county to have to pay the bills. Sage said he was told ICE did not have room to house the two, and he released them.
