The Cost of Illegal
Immigration to Floridians
Analysis of the latest Census data indicates
Florida's illegal immigrant population is costing the state's
taxpayers nearly two billion dollars per year for education, medical
care and incarceration. Even if the estimated taxes collected from
illegal immigrant workers are subtracted, net outlays still amount
to nearly one billion dollars per year. The annual fiscal burden
amounts to about $315 per Florida household headed by a native-born
resident.

for illegal immigrants costs the states nearly $12 billion annually,
and when the children born here to illegal aliens are added, the
costs more than double to $28.6 billion.

here. The immigrants we admit are much poorer than the native
population and are increasing the size of our impoverished
population.

The High Cost of
Cheap Labor
Based on Census Bureau data, this study finds that, when all taxes
paid (direct and indirect) and all costs are considered, illegal
households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more
than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an
amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to
nearly $29 billion.
